Knowledge and Experience

We are involved and invested in our clients’ lives beyond their finances. We look forward to putting our intimate knowledge of your situation, goals, and challenges to work on your behalf.

    Bruce Moskowitz, CRPC®, AAMS®, AIF®

    Principal

Bruce first realized his passion for finance when he was a student at the University of Georgia. Bruce decided to follow his passion and became a financial advisor.

Today, Bruce specializes in building long-term financial plans that help his clients to pursue goals, such as funding college for their children and grandchildren, retiring with confidence, and helping to ensure that their families have the resources in place to survive when they’re gone. Because retirement is a huge concern for so many clients, Bruce undertook additional studies to achieve extra experience. He holds the Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor (CRPC®), an advanced certification for planning individual retirements, and obtained the Accredited Asset Management Specialist (AAMS®) and Accredited Investment Fiduciary® (AIF®) certifications for his work with corporate sponsors, their retirement plans, and participant needs. Bruce founded Sterling Wealth Management in 2010 to provide his clients with independent advice and believes his ability to offer objective advice is a real advantage for clients.

Aside from four fun years at the University of Georgia and a few years in Atlanta, Bruce is proud to have called Wilmington home for his entire life. Deeply grateful for all he has achieved, Bruce believes in giving back and is actively involved in the Wilmington community. Bruce is chairman of the University of North Carolina Wilmington Foundation Board of Directors. In addition, he was honored to be appointed to the Cape Fear Community College Board of Trustees. A passionate believer in education, Bruce is enthusiastic about the foundation's work assisting the university in obtaining private gifts to support scholarship opportunities and enhance educational programs. He has also served on the boards of the New Hanover Regional Medical Center Foundation, North Carolina Holocaust Council, North Carolina Hillel, and B'nai Israel Synagogue.

Bruce and his wife, Carolyn, have been married for 40 years, and have three children and two grandchildren. He enjoys playing golf, watching college basketball, watching college and professional football, and watching professional golf. Bruce loves the beach but prefers to stay on land.

    R. Bertram Williams III, CFP®

    Principal

Bert graduated from New Hanover High School and made his way to UNC-Chapel Hill with a bachelor’s degree in business administration, later returning to Wilmington and working with a regional bank. After seven years with the bank, he decided he wanted to do more in his career and be more successful for others and himself. So, in 1979, Bert began working for clients as their financial advisor, helping them with planning and wealth management.

In 1975, Bert married Melanie, his college sweetheart, and they have three wonderful children and five active grandchildren.

Bert has many interests outside of work. If the sun is out, so is he. He spends as much of his free time as possible at his farm where he enjoys growing fruits and vegetables, especially sweet corn and okra, and gives those veggies to clients, friends, and neighbors. Bert loves anything to do with the water. He loves boating, fishing, and hunting for dove, duck, and deer.

Bert is an officer and active in his church and several other non-profit organizations. He has been involved in Boy Scouts for many years, and now spends a fair amount of time volunteering at the Council level.

Almost 10 years ago, Bert spent more than a year studying for and achieving qualifications for the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certification. In 2015, he became certified as a National Social Security Advisor (NSSA) to better advise clients on Social Security matters critical to retirement security.

Bert is passionate about assisting his clients in nearly all matters concerning the accumulation and distribution of their wealth. He gets great pleasure from helping create a method to fund their most important life goals—whether it be educating their children or grandchildren, living successfully in retirement, to creating a legacy for their loved ones.
